Woonsocket Education Center is managed by the State Of Rhode Island’s Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner. The center opened in August, 2022 and is a public-private collaboration designed to bring together higher education, business, industry, and community partners to provide high-quality educational programs to meet projected workforce growth in the region. It is modeled after Westerly Education Center, the highly successful workforce training and education center that opened in 2017.
Rhode Island public higher education institutions (Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College and University of Rhode Island), the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, and Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training are partners in the effort to provide workforce training and improved regional access to postsecondary credits, credentials and industry-recognized certifications.
The center is available to any business wishing to rent classrooms or the multi-use room for training sessions, meetings, webinars, and more. If desired, businesses can opt to engage with the center’s higher education partners to develop customized courses. Whether training new hires or offering professional development for current staff, the center is ideal for off-site programming.
While the building was under construction, some off-site courses were held in the Spring semester 2022 at the former Msgr. Gadoury School on Park Ave, Woonsocket.
